Knight Rider. A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist. Michael Knight champions the cause of the innocent, the helpless, the powerless in a world of criminals who operate above the law. A lone crusader in a dangerous world. The world of... the Knight Rider.
Well, that's how this feature-length version of the popular 80s series doesn't start. And neither does it feature the same effeminate, homosexual car.
Nope, this Kitt was designed by men who still hang Page 3 calendars in the office.
The Kitt 3000 dispenses with all that Kitt 2000 turbo-boost, talking watch malarkey and makes do, for the most part, with its one primary attribute: it's a souped-up Mustang. A souped-up Mustang with a deep voice.
And that's about it. The storyline's pretty inconsequential stuff and its Made For TV heritage is apparent when there's an odd pause in the middle of each cliffhanger during which the screen momentarily goes blank.
But for what it is, this is a pretty watchable movie and even features a cameo from the original Michael Knight himself.
Knight Rider: 5/10.
I'm knocking two marks off for the cameo.
